The idea of frugal living appeals to me - always has.

But I notice that one subject does not come up in the discussions: Frugal Health.

In my humble opinion, we should make the best of what we've got - our health and our family's health, hopefully!

In European Natural Medicine we we talk about the "Five Health Essentials": Water, movement, food, herbs and order (which I usually now call "balancing your life"). All five of them are pretty inexpensive or even free. Except, herbs, of course.

Cooking from scratch with fresh vegetables every night might be one of the best ways to keep our families healthy. Yes, I hear you: It takes a little time - but it is doable. Honestly, I think that cutting coupons for unhealthy processed food is a waste of time...and health!

We have kale and red beets tonight. What are you having?

I've always had an interest in holistic health and natural medicine. I'm a busy, working mom and doctoral student, but I've begun once a month cooking, and I'm concentrating on using wholesome ingredients. And we have veggies every night! I'm glad to learn the "Five Health Essentials"--very useful.
